Story and photos by D.J. Estopinal On Sunday, July 15, 2018 at the 10:00 A.M. Good Shepherd Church Service, we were blessed to have the “Mardi Gras Chorus” preform for the entire congregation that was in attendance. The Mardi Gras Chorus preformed four (4) songs during the church service. Those songs were, “Just A Closer Walk”, “Everybody Wants to Go to Heaven”, “Wonderful World” and “God Bless America”. These men sing and harmonize beautifully. They are VERY talented. After the church service ended, the congregation and the Mardi Gras Chorus relocated to the Fellowship Hall. Everyone enjoyed ice cream with all of it fixings. During that time, the Mardi Gras Chorus again entertained the congregation with additional harmonizing songs. Everyone in attendance really enjoyed their performance.
For those of you not familiar with the Mardi Gras Chorus, here is a little back ground information on them. The Mardi Gras Chorus is directed by Mr. Joseph E. Jacquat. The Mardi Gras Chorus consist of twenty-four (24) men, locally. However, only fifteen (15) men preformed at our church service today. They have over 30,000 members in the chorus worldwide and have been in existence for over sixty-five (65) years. They sing nothing but Baber Shop Harmony music and they do it VERY well! Members of the Mardi Gras Chorus range in age from middle and high school students to their oldest member who is 94 years young. They come from ALL walks of life, from lay persons to doctors. If you are interested in listening to the Mardi Gras Chorus preform, they regularly preform at the “Christ the King” church every Tuesday night at 7:15 P.M. By the way, did you recognize anyone that you might know in either of the above photographs? Look closely! Can you find Mr. Stan? He is there!!!!! You are only as old as you let yourself feel!!!!!!! Thank you Mardi Gras Chorus for a job well done!!
