The Anchor Man

By D.J. Estopinal
A bunch of years back, when I was going to a different church, I was in church on a “Fathers Day” Sunday. A girl, approximately 12 years old, whom I did not know personally, but had observed in church with her family numerous times, walked to where I was seated. The Pastor was conducting church service and without saying a word, she handed me the below statement. I took it from her and she shook my hand. Without saying a word, she then turned and walked back to where her family was seated and sat back down.

“The Anchor Man…”

Knows the true source of strength.

He seeks God’s truth and righteousness.

When the storms of life rage, His Anchor provides security.

When strong currents of the world pull, His Anchor holds him fast.

“The Lord is the stronghold of my life --- of whom shall I be afraid?”
Psalm 27:1

On the back was hand written:

“I love you because you make me feel safe all the time.”

I never saw the girl or her family in church again and do not know what ever happened to them.

To this day, I keep the little card that she gave me posted on my refrigerator.
