Article and photos by D.J. Estopinal Sunday, September 9 was a busy day at Good Shepherd! The 10:00 AM service included Rally Day, the return of our choir from summer break, the commissioning of our new Music Director, and the commissioning of our 2018-19 Christian Education Board, Sunday School teachers, and our new Youth Director. As a part of our Rally Day celebration and in keeping with Good Shepherd Church tradition, our third graders were gifted their own Bible. Mrs. Rinda Coleman was officially installed as our new Music Director and Pianist. Mrs. Coleman has also taken on the job of directing our Church Choir. We have learned to appreciate her for her beautiful playing of the piano and solo singing, We look forward to listening to the music arrangements and Choir singing that she presents to us during church service each Sunday and we were truly blessed by the return of our Church Choir after their summer hiatus. As usual, they truly sung all of the hymns, during the church service, with angelic harmonious music. Please let Mrs. Rinda Coleman and all of the members of our Church Choir know how much we appreciate their beautiful music that they present to us each Sunday. The service also included the installation of the entire Christian Educational Department. All of the members of the Christian Ed. Department are volunteers who take their job and duties very seriously. Mrs. Kelly Frilot was also installed as Youth Director with our church for our Junior High and High School age youth. The Youth Director is a new position at Good Shepherd which has been started thanks to a very generous donation from the LeGuluche family in honor of Mr. John and Mrs. June LeGuluche. Good Shepherd Church was blessed to have Jewel LeGuluche Parrett and her husband Bill with us on Sunday morning as Kelly was commissioned. Ms. Frilot’s first activity with our youth will be Pizza and a Movie on Saturday, September 15, at 5:30 P.M. Everyone that plans on attending will meet in the sanctuary building of the Good Shepherd Church.
Mrs. Frilot advised me that youth of Junior High and High School age need not be members of Good Shepherd Church in order to attend the above scheduled event. All they need to do is to contact her before Saturday, to advise her that they plan on attending the event. This is needed so that she knows how much pizza to order. It sounds like they are in for a fun time! If you would like to assist Mrs. Frilot in donating money to assist her ministry and in working with the teenage youth of our church, please write on your check, “Youth Director” or write “Youth Director” on a pew offering envelope then place your cash in the envelope. Just place either of the above in the offering plate and it will be directed to her church ministry account. I am sure she would appreciate any amount you are able to afford. Remember, the future of our church is in our children today!
