This Sunday, September 29, will be our final Sunday to collect cleaning items, toiletries, school supplies, etc., for storm victims. Of course, we will continue our collection for non-perishable food items to assist the Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans.
Beginning October 1, we will be collecting items for Operation Christmas Child and we will also launch our annual Youth versus Adult Socktober contest! For Operation Christmas Child, we will be collecting small dolls, small stuffed animals, combs, brushes, and more. The cost for each shoe box shipped overseas is $9, so monetary donations will also be accepted. Watch for the October edition of the Shepherd's Voice Newsletter for a more exhaustive list of acceptable (and unacceptable) items for this worthy project. All through October, we will also be collecting socks. You'll see two boxes in the church--one labeled youth and the other adults. This has nothing to do with the size socks you are being asked to bring it, but rather is a challenge from the youngsters of the church to see if they can bring in more new socks than the adults. Please remember that all socks being donated must be new and unused.
