The Men’s Club has decided that their purpose, as a club, will be to conduct various fundraising activities and complete projects that the church needs but does not have the money in their general fund to complete.
The men have decided upon their first project to complete. If you had not noticed, our main, “Good Shepherd Church”, sign that is located in front parking lot of the church, by West Esplanade Ave., needs to be replaced. The two (2) wooden post that go into the ground and holds the sign up has become rotten in the ground. The whole sign has started to lean because of the rotten wood. Mr. Mel Aucoin straightens the sign up periodically but the wind blows it back to the leaning position. Soon a thunderstorm will blow the sign completely over. The portion of the sign that says “Good Shepherd Church” is nothing more than a plastic banner affixed to the wooden frame. That banner is becoming badly bleached by the sun.
This sign was erected after Hurricane Katrina and was meant to be a temporary sign. Our church has never had enough money to replace this sign. I announced that as of Sunday, August 19, 2018, the Men’s Club would start accepting monetary donations to replace our church sign. One hundred percent of the money collected as donations and all future money made through future raffles and fund-raising activities that the Men’s Club collects will go toward replacing our church sign.
Mr. Mel Aucoin has created a church fund raising progress thermometer poster with a rendering of what the projected new church sign will look like, on that poster.
If you wish to donate to our new church sign project, please make out your check to, “GSC Men’s Club” and on the bottom of your check just write “Sign”. If you would like to make a cash donation, you can place the cash in a blue church pew envelope and write on the envelope, “Sign” and place it in the offering basket during a church service. Or, you can just give the cash money to either myself, D. J. Estopinal – Men’s Club President or Mr. Clif Frilot – Men’s Club Treasurer.
On Sunday, September 30, 2018, the Men’s Club will start to sell raffle tickets in order to raise money for our new church sign. More information on this raffle is forthcoming.
We are also interested in obtaining corporate donations. If anyone knows of a company or corporation that may donate money for our church sign project, please contact them and determine if they are interested in doing so.
Please help us in generating the money we need to erect our new church sign.
