Guest Pianist, Paul Powell

On Sunday, April 22, 2018, The Good Shepherd Church had another guest Pianist at the 10:00 A. M. church service.

The Reverend Doctor Paul R. Powell played the piano beautifully during the church service.

I spoke to Rev. Dr. Powell. He advised that he graduated with a degree in “Theology” from the Baptist Seminary here in New Orleans in 1966. He also obtained a “Church Music” degree from the Baptist Seminary here in 1974. He also stated that he obtained a “Library Science” degree from L. S. U. in Baton Rouge, La.  Reverend Dr. Powell in addition obtained a Ph.D. in “Liturgics” at Drew University in New Jersey.

The Reverend Dr. Powell stated that he has held positions as a full time Liberian at multiple schools. He has also played music for various churches of faith.

Recently Dr. Powell was the Pastor at the St. Charles Baptist Church. He also was the Organist at the Gentilly Presbyterian Church before it closed.

Dr. Powell is interested in learning more about Good Shepherd Church’s Music Director position and looks forward to an upcoming meeting with the full search committee.
