Story and photos by D.J. Estopinal
Easter Sunday, April 1, 2018, was an especially meaningful and eventful day at Good Shepherd Church. Easter Sunday started out with the children of the church congregation decorating a five-foot-tall wooden cross before church service begin. The cross looked beautiful, being completely covered in a multitude of various colored fresh flowers. At the beginning of the Easter Church service, the children who decorated the cross, formed a procession and carried the flowered covered cross into the church sanctuary. They placed the cross at the front of the sanctuary, to the left of the alter. (See Photo # 1 Below) Playing the piano for the Easter Church service was Ms. Jeannette Thompson. In a conversation with Ms. Thompson, she said that she had a Masters Degree in Music from the University of Nebraska. Ms. Thompson stated that she currently works at Tulane University as a Liberian. Part of her duties is to catalog all of the incoming music for Tulane University. Ms. Thompson stated that she was not interested in the full-time music directors position at Good Shepherd Church. Pastor Randy has a special appeal with the youth of the church. Every child found a plethora of plastic Easter Eggs. The plastic Easter Eggs were filled with various types of wrapped candy.
